Review | SKINFOOD Egg White Pore Wash-Off Mask

Wednesday, 7 September 2016
I have tried several types of mask that help with my sebum control and so far I've encountered clay masks and this egg white mask from Skinfood.

If you're familiar with Skinfood then you'll definitely noticed how simple and traditional their packaging is. I mean, comic san font. Really? But then again, I'm still loving their wash-off masks from the first time I've tried them until today.

Product Description:
A pore-refining mask with egg white extract that penetrates deeply into pores to remove pore-clogging (mineral) oil.

Egg white, enriched with albumin, promotes firmer skin and smaller pores.

How To Use:

After cleansing, apply to the face except the eye and mouth area.
Wash off with lukewarm water after 10 ~ 15 minutes.

Capacity: 125g

Packaging:

This is indeed not the first tub that I bought and I even bought from our local Skinfood store KL last year with retailed price of RM44. I know it's way more expensive than the price you can get from Althea.kr which is merely RM20. As you can see, they did changed the packaging as the new one on the right is slightly different from the previous one and yes, they ditched the comic san font for the label and added 25g more to the capacity of the product in one tub.

Left: Old Packaging. Right: New Packaging

When it comes to the ingredients, the only thing that I've noticed is the position of the preservative which in this product is Phenoxyethanol in the list which now at the bottom of it. Previously, albumen extracts sat at the bottom of the list and now it's the second ingredient after water.

There's the English product description printed on the label at the side of the tub and there's expiry date as well. Do check before purchasing at your store as sometimes they forgot to remove expired products from the shelf. Yes, I swear that this happened to me before.

Like other wash-off masks from the brand, this mask too came with a lid that separates the tub and the lid. So, if you forgot to twist (but let's be careful and avoid this from happening) the lid, it won't get dried right away.

This mask doesn't come with a spatula so you can just use whatever spatula you have on hand or you can buy a cup of ice cream and reuse the small spoon to scoop out the product.

Application:

Left: I applied the mask on my entire facial area except mouth and eye area. Right: After 20 minutes. The mask doesn't harden on my face or anything but you can see a slight crack that indicate the mask has dried and you're ready to wash-it off.

After washing the mask with lukewarm water. I don't notice any big difference just on the look of it but I definitely felt my skin is smoother and I just love how my skincare being absorbed rather quickly compared to not using the mask beforehand.

I suggest using a sponge rather than just use bare hands as it'll help with exfoliating dead skin cells off your skin plus it's definitely quicker and doesn't require much water.

Overall, I do love this mask. The sebum-control resulted by using this mask is much compared to those clay masks from Innisfree but for mild result especially those with dry skin, I suggest using this instead.

Final verdict: 5/5. It does what I need and i do like that it doesn't dry out my skin after using. It's simple to use and a little goes a long way.

Let me know if you've tried this mask before or if you have any suggestion on similar masks, do leave comments down below.

Until next post, annyeong~
