Review | THE FACE SHOP Natural Sun Eco Anti-Pollution Sun Cream SPF50+ PA+++

Monday, 13 November 2017
As you're probably expected from my previous post, here I am with another review on this sunscreen product from THE FACE SHOP with anti-pollution function. If you're someone who commute to work by using public transport or you're always working outdoors; exposed with polluted environment under the sun and in need of sunscreen product then this product might worth the try.

This particular product is a new addition to the brand's sunscreen line; Natural Sun Eco on top of the other sunscreen products that are already available at their stores. Overall, the brand offers you a wide range of products that cater to your skin needs and that doesn't limit to skincare only as their sunscreen products cover your oily, dehydrated or dry skin but this new addition goes extra mile buy protecting you against environmental stressors like fine dust that can penetrate deep into your skin.

Product Description:

Contains 5000 microgram of ECOCERT certified Sunflower Sprout Extract.

Anti-Pollution Sun Cream helps skin look healthy by protecting skin from environmental stressors such as fine dust (below size PM10) and UVA/UVB rays; and its hydrating texture leaves skin moisturised and fresh.

Capacity: 50ml

Packaging:

Like the rest of the Natural Sun Eco products, this product came in a beige-coloured box with orange as feature colour. To me, it reminds of sunflower colour that just shine bright under the sun though when it comes to this packaging style, it's much more subtle and show how the brand being influenced by French style in a way.

At the side of the box, it is indicated that the main ingredient for the product; sunflower sprout extract is ECOCERT Certified, it contains Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF) with no animal-sourced ingredients and paraben.

There's full product description in Korean at the backside of the box with the English translation on the side of it.

WATER, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, ETHYLHEXYL SALICYLATE, C12-15 ALKYL BENZOATE, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, POTASSIUM CETYL PHOSPHATE, PHENYLBENZIMIDAZOLE SULFONIC ACID, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, GLYCERIN, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, HYDROGENATED POLYISOBUTENE, CETYL ETHYLHEXANOATE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL TROMETHAMINE, BIS-ETHYLHEXYLOXYPHENOL METHOXYPHENYL TRIAZINE, PANTHENOL, DIETHYLAMINO HYDROXYBENZOYL HEXYL BENZOATE, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SPROUT EXTRACT, SODIUM PCA, MENTHYL PCA, CELLULOSE, INULIN LAURYL CARBAMATE, CETEARYL OLIVATE, SILICA, GLYCERYL STEARATE SE, ALUMINIUM STEARATE, SORBITAN OLIVATE, MAGNESIUM ALUMINUM SILICATE, POLYHYDROXYSTEARIC ACID, ALUMINA, XANTHAN GUM, ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, TRISODIUM EDTA, SODIUM BENZOATE, FRAGRANCE

The bolded ingredients on the list are for sunscreen which gives protection from UVA and UVB rays. If you're acne-prone or quite sensitive in general, you might want to avoid Glyceryl Stearate SE.

The last ingredient listed before fragrance, Sodium Benzoate serves as the product's preservative. Is it me or beauty brands are currently replacing Phenoxyethanol in skincare products? Do let me in more details if you will.

The product came in a tube packaging with similar design to the box and simplified product description was printed on it. At the back of the tube, there's symbol indicating that this sunscreen is meant for facial area which I'm guessing it is but I do recommend for you to apply your neck area as well.

The tube comes with a small opening for easy product dispense which is important as I tend to squeeze out a lot every single time.

Application:

I always use a third of teaspoon as the minimum amount my sunscreen cover my whole facial area. As you can see, the cream is in that slightly opaque white colour and when spread a little bit, it seems like it's going to give you a white cast all over your face however if you look at below photos, the cream spreads rather nicely without sticky finishes.

To me, the product is actually smells soapy and refreshing though that's just fragrance. It's quite strong to some people but I don't mind that at all as the scent disappears within seconds.

Right: Product spread under natural light. Left: With flash photography.

Final verdict:

Overall, I'd give this product 5/5. It basically provides me all the things I want when it comes to a sunscreen product whereas it still hydrate my skin as I don't feel like my skin turning oily midday. Of course, I always apply my morning skincare that consist of cleanser, toner and a light moisturiser or emulsion but first and foremost, I always opt for sebum-controlling products for my day routine and this sunscreen does complement it.

I just love when I wipe my face the moment I got to my office; when I took off from the bus, after all the crossing over the roads, I do noticed that there's less amount of dirt stuck on my face when I'm using this product compared to when I was using a sebum-controlling sunscreen. Hence, I'd like to recommend this particular sunscreen to those of you who are on the lookout for a sunscreen that go extra mile for you with its features. As with all sunscreens, you need to reapply every 2 to 3 hours while you are outdoor.

Other than that, I really like how it doesn't leave me with white cast especially when I need to take selfies outdoor. For those days I'm going for no-makeup makeup look, adding smoothing primer and transparent sebum-controlling powder on top of this sunscreen, my base is done with just that.

When it comes to removing my makeup at the end of the day i.e. the abovementioned makeup look, I usually go for cleansing water and use a foam cleanser for deep cleansing.

I guess that's all from me. Let me know your thoughts on this product by leaving comments down below. I'll see you guys on my next post. Annyeong~
