Beauty Haul | January

Thursday, 30 January 2014
It's the end of the month so it's time for Monthly Haul! As you're probably expecting, let's go to TheFaceShop!

I've been wanting to try another method for exfoliating the dead skin cells so I got the Smart Peeling: White Jewel Peeling as I was curious to see how it works and whether it's better than physical scrub.

As I already tried the Apple Flesh Mask, I decided to grab other variants from the same Real Nature line which are the Strawberry Sorbet Mask Pack and Kiwi Jelly Mask Pack. To go with those wash-off masks, I bought new facial pack brushes as well.

I tried the Lovely ME:EX Mini Pet Hand Cream in Baby Powder at the store and fell in love with it! I love baby powder so yes, it's awesome and just look at the cute packaging!!

Review: Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel

Wednesday, 22 January 2014
Hello, my dear readers! How's your day today? As for me, me and mum went to hospital today to get some meds supplies. It's raining season right now so to all of you out there, please take care of your body and eat proper food, okay?

Anyway, today I'm going to review another product that I carried along while I was on trip a week ago which is this awesome Aloe Vera Soothing Gel from Nature Republic!

Hours and hours of walking under the sun, my whole body felt like burning at some point so this is the savior! But first, let's go to the basic details.

Product Description:
Enriched with 92% Aloe Vera!
Mild formula free from paraben, mineral oil and artificial colours.
This soothing gel with 92% organic Aloe Vera certified by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) can be used to mildly moisturize various parts of the body such as the face, legs and hair.

How to use:
Apply appropriate amount to dry , sensitive parts of the face and body for best results.

Net Weight: 300ml

Wah~ That's Hara! Along with two other KARA's members, she endorsed this brand for a year and this product is one of those promoted by her. If I'm not mistaken I think there's a poster with Jang Geun Suk holding the product as well.

Updated: here's a video where EXO-K is doing some promotional shooting for the product. Though it has no English subs. Do tell if you see it anywhere with subs, okay!

From info that I got from around the internet, this product is an upgrade from a previous version, which is promoted by Jaejoong, that have 90% of real aloe vera in it.

Anyway, let's get on to the packaging.

Basically, the product is housed within this huge transparent green tub. They used real aloe vera as illustration I bet to show how natural the product is. Of course, they use green hues. Fresh and soothing!

There's a product description at the bottom of the tub. Just zoom in to see the long list of ingredient as well.

There's a nice transparent plastic lid provided so it won't spilled while you're traveling with it.

That's the aloe vera gel. It's colourless, smells fresh, with cool and soothing sensation. It's a lot so you can use it for a long time. Well, I recommend within a year.

As you can see here, that's how it looks like on skin. That generous amount can cover my whole face, including neck area. :D

Final verdict:

Do you know that this product is multi-purpose product? I bet you already can imagine!

Of course, I gotta try these methods! :D
  1. Moisturizing cream. On those days while traveling, when I get really exhausted, I just removed my makeup, wash my face, used my toner, and apply this on my face as my moisturizer.
  2. Make up base. How? Mix the gel with foundation or BB cream and apply it as usual on skin. Totally gives you a very nice cool sensation. Though it's kinda hard to blend. For me, this need practice. hehe
  3. After shaving for boys. Or girls. I'll use this after shaving my legs cause my legs tend to get dry after shaving. So this is good.
  4. Hair treatment. I do this sometimes. When my hair feel dry, I'll put on the gel at the ends and it'll make my hair more lively and soft. I sometimes put on my scalp as well.
  5. Relax swollen eyes. After late night sessions at the studio, lack of sleep will give me panda eyes, or after watching sad Japanese drama (have you seen 1 Litre of Tears???) this soothing gel is definitely helping in calming down my eyes. hehe ...or after my best friend went back to Singapore. I'll cry like crazy! T_T
  6. Nail essence. I tend to neglect my nails like most of the time so I use this gel as treatment.
  7. Body care. I use this like I'm using my body lotion. Just smooth it to all over my body.
  8. Mask. If you want, you can use dry mask sheet and put this on. Or just put this on your face for 15 minutes or more and wash it off and continue with your skincare routine. I prefer the latter method.
Overall, I love this soothing gel. The generous amount in one tub, I can use it in so many ways, and above all, it's really helping in soothing my sunburns while I was on my trip (yeah, I kinda forgot to put on sunscreen for like 6 hours or so...).

I find a lot of people pointing out the huge bulky tub is a minus point but for me, it's okay. I just scoop out the gel into my traveling containers and voila! problem solved!

I have my own spatulas so yeah, it's okay for not getting this gel without accompanying spatula. Spatula costs me like RM5. Cheap.

Final verdict: 5/5. By far, this is the best Korean soothing gel I have tried, and I'm definitely be looking forward to the next upgrade. 95% of aloe vera gel I supposed!

I got this from the Nature Republic Malaysia store in Sunway Pyramid for only RM32.90. 300ml for only RM32.90? That's affordable! They sometimes have 'Get 4 for RM100' promotion so yeah, it's awesome!

Anyway, I guess that's all for the review and I'll see you guys next post!

Au revoir!

Review | Crabtree & Evelyn Evelyn Rose Mini Collection

Sunday, 19 January 2014
Hello, lovelies! How's your weekend so far? Hope you guys are spending great quality time with your loved ones! :D

Yesterday, me and mom bought a new Pavilion 20 All-in-One Computer from HP (I bought one sometime in October last year and mom said she wanted it too.. hehe) in Suria Sabah, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and we got this (I'm assuming) Christmas Set from Crabtree & Evelyn, the Evelyn Rose line.

I honestly never been to this store before as I'm all about Korean and Japanese brands for skincare and as  for body care, I would go to The Body Shop and on those times when I'm on budget, Watsons.

So when I got this, the first thing that came out of my mouth was (of course thank you) and "So English!".
I promise I didn't mean to offend anyone and if you know me personally, I'm totally into English stuffs as in Victorian era stuffs, watching English dramas and of course, English Tea Time. Who doesn't love watching girls with big dresses and proper etiquette plus perfect grammar? Now  want to read Jane Austen books again. :)

Anyway, before moving on to the review, I'm going to give a little bit of info that I got from the Official Malaysian website.

Evelyn Rose, the delicately re-engineered, the luxury of the original scent has been infused with crisp airiness. Retaining the sophisticated allure which made Evelyn Rose an immediate classic, the updated fragrance is a softer, fresher reflection of the rose created for Crabtree & Evelyn by David Austin (a renowned rose expert) two decades ago.

Packaging:

Upon opening the beautiful sturdy box, you'll be greeted with this emblem from the brand. Wow. So classy!

There are three items included, from the Hand Care Collection, the Evelyn Rose Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy, Evelyn Rose Bath and Shower Gel, and Evelyn Rose Body Lotion.

First, the Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy 25g.

Now that a very long list of ingredient! Open the image in a new tab to see the list clearly.

Wow! Once opened this is good for another 24 months!

Beautifully soften and enrich your hands with our award-winning, shea butter-rich Hand Therapy formulated with ceramides 3 and 6II to reduce moisture loss while promoting your skin's hydration level. Conditioning rose extracts help leave hands noticeably smoother and more supple with each use.

The moment I opened the cap of the tube, the rose scent filled the air and it's so calming! The product is housed within that pink tube. So feminine and classy!

The lotion is so nice as it doesn't leave me with stickiness or anything, quickly absorbed into my skin and the scent still lingers even after few hours! Ah~

Retail Price: RM78 ( for full size of 100g)

next, is the Evelyn Rose Bath and Shower Gel 50ml.

Once opened, this can be used (though it'll be finish soon, hehe) for 36 months!

Discover a beautiful way to both cleanse and pamper your skin with our Evelyn Rose Bath & Shower Gel. Its gentle formula and conditioning rose extracts help soften the skin, while the luxurious and ultra-feminine fragrance will beautifully linger throughout the day.

It's actually a thick transparent gel body wash that smells like the hand cream, of course like rose. But this one is a little bit more refreshing. It's really nice as it's not really overpowering once I lather it up on my body.

Retail Price: RM115 (full size of 250ml)
Last but not least, the Evelyn Rose Body Lotion 50ml.

Did I mentioned how I love the minimalist packaging? Especially this one, it's a light rose colour with the emblem printed on it. Just my style.

The body lotion is a little bit lighter in terms of its consistency compared to the hand cream. It's basically has the same scent like the shower gel and my usual routine would be smoothing my body lotion right after shower to make the scent last longer. This one too isn't sticky at all and just nice as it absorbed into my skin rather quickly.

Final verdict: 5/5. Perfect for traveling, or just in my purse, especially the hand cream, and this is absolutely lovely if you're looking for gifts for relatives especially during the festive season.

This set is actually in its old packaging so do check out their website to see the new packaging which is nicer. hehe well, that's my oppinon, though.

So I guess, that's all for the review, do share if you have tried this brand, or this particular product, tell me what do you think and do share if you have tried similar, better or cheaper options.

I'll see you guys next post!

Au revoir!

Review: Etude House Sun Prise Cooling Body Spray SPF50+ PA+++

Saturday, 18 January 2014
Hello, beautiful people! This is the second post of the day and I've been wanting to do this review for so long but haven't got the chance to as I was focusing on finishing the review for my September Haul.

Finally I get to finish it and today, I'm going to review the next item from my October Haul which is the Sun Prise Cooling Body Spray with SPF50+ PA+++ from Etude House.

As I mentioned in the previous post, I've been traveling a lot throughout the past few weeks and this is one of the things that is a must have especially if you're going on sightseeing under the sun.

Product Description:

Portable UV defense mist spray for use anytime , anywhere.
Ideal for for outdoor activities.
Formulated with Mangosteen, Lotus Flower, Aloe Extract for soothing relief.

How to use:
Spray mist to sun-exposed areas of the body and pat dry.

Net Weight: 150ml

Packaging:

I honestly was kinda surprised to see the product's name when I saw it on the display for the first time. Why? Cause it's written 'Sun Prise' which I honestly thought they misspelled it or something. Only few seconds later I realized it's actually a sunblock and hence the name. LOL

Basically, the product is housed within a very sturdy metal canister. It uses a very nice blue hue for the cap and the illustration along with yellow hues. Totally cute.

The expired date is printed at the bottom of the canister.

The product description. Note that to use the product within 12 months.

The fine nozzle. I really love how it sprays the product nicely onto my skin.

Verdict:

As you can see here, the dispensed product is milky liquid. Just spray about 20cm from your body area and you'll get a very nice spread all over your body. But I usually spray my hands from about 10cm away and quickly spread the product all over my hand area.

It'll leave white cast but usually it'll fade after about 10 to 15 minutes.

What I love the most about this sunblock is the scent. Smells like babies! :D Yep, it has powdery scent and I'm totally in love with it. What's more? It lasts for a about 3 hours.

To me, this sunblock works just fine. I usually got really bad sunburned after walking around under the sun without sunblock so this one is awesome. I don't even feel the heat that I usually had before.

As it's just so easy to spray on and with that cool sensation, I just love it.

Final verdict: 5/5. I'm not sure if you guys ever tried this product and saw a flaw in it as for me, it's fine. Plus, it's not really that heavy so I could just throw it into my bag anytime and anywhere.

I got this for only RM29.90 though the retailed price is RM61.90 during October Sweeties Club promotion last year.

I guess, that's a wrap and I'll see you guys next post.

Until then, take care.

It's Been a While!

Hello, lovelies! ... OMG!!! It's been 10 days since my last post! Please for give as right after I flew back to my hometown, I had to fly again to another part of Malaysia for a little getaway with my parents for 4 days and then to spent 4 days on the road, traveling back and forth from a relative house due to some family matters.

Only yesterday I got the chance to recover from all those exhausting trips!

Anyway, I would like to welcome new followers of my blog, whether you're on Google+, Bloglovin' or the most popular, Google Friend Connect platform, annyeonghaseyo!

By the way, I extended the date for you guys to vote for the items I'm going to giveaway though Etude House is winning over 50% right now so I already prepared some stuffs. hehe

So yeah, as I prepared some stuffs to be reviewed, so stay tuned and I'll see you guys next post!

P.S.: Be sure to comment if you're new follower or if this is your first visit here.

Review: TheFaceShop Flebote White Crystal Moisture Radiance Cream

Tuesday, 7 January 2014
Hello, lovelies! Second post of the day! :D haha I'm so not in the mood to pack for my semester break! I usually pack like few hours before flying and so far never had any mishaps or anything like leaving something somewhere. The key is to have your list prepared weeks before (or days before) traveling so you get the chance to plan properly on what to bring and whatnot.

So let's get on with this review! As the title says, I'm going to review on a moisturizer that I used for about 3 months, which is this Flebote White Crystal Moisture Radiance Cream from TheFaceShop

Review: TheFaceShop Flebote White Crystal Brightening Emulsion

Monday, 6 January 2014
Hello, beautiful people! It's Monday and finally I'm done with final exams! Yay!!! To those who're still battling, good luck and hopefully we all come out as winners!

Finished exam in the afternoon and went back to my dorm, clean up my bed (apparently there's ten thousand things on it) and then washed up my face, put on my sleeping mask and sleep like 7 hours. :D Just had my proper dinner after few days of eating crap. Literally crap. T__T Been eating junk food cause I'm too lazy to go out of my room and get some food from cafe. Sigh. Kids don't do this at home.

Anyway, as I already post about my toner and essence from Flebote White Crystal line of TheFaceShop, today I'm going to post about another product from the same line, which is its Emulsion.

In Korea, emulsion refers to a much lighter, non-sticky face lotion that works with skin's natural oils to promote hydration. It works on all skin types because it is water based and does not clog pores but it is most recommended for those with oily-combo skin.

As for me, I'm using this Emulsion during the day and then proceed with sunscreen and BB cream, and at night before putting on my night cream, which is currently the Etude House Flower Moistfull Cream

Product Description:
Lustrously glowing skin with added moisture and softness.

This high-potency brightening emulsion with Korean White Pine Extract, a natural skin brightener, and Opuntia Tuna Fruit Extract softens and brightens rough skin tone that damaged by UV rays, weather and other environmental pollution. Additions of Saffron Extract and Chestful Pellicle Extract strengthen skin barrier for moisturized, polished skin.

What is Korean White Pine?
It's an evergreen tree native to korea that has prized since ancient times for its unchanging green colour. Rich in resveratrol, an excellent anti-oxidant and skin brightener, this unique ingredient specially developed by THEFACESHOP laboratory, provides skin with last long lasting brightness and glow.

What is Saffron?
Saffron is a rare plant grown in the clean snows of beautiful, pristine Tibetan highlands, 5000m above sea level. It's Flebote's key ingredient that protects skin from free radicals and activates skin metabolism for improved clarity and resilience.

Ingredients:
Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Cyclomethicone, Hydryogenated Polydecene, Arbutin, Isopropyl Isostearate, Polyglutamic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Butyrospermum Park II (Shea Butter), Sodium Hyaluronate, Dimethicone, Peg-100 Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Propylene Glycol, Carbomer, Castanea Sativa (Chestnut) Extract, Punis Strobus Bark Extract, Opuntia Tuna Fruit Extract, Potassium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Crocus Sativus Flower Extract, fragrance.

Vol.: 130ml

DERMATOLOGY TESTED.

Packaging:

This product does come with a box. A sturdy one at that as there's another lining of cardbox inside.

Similar with other items from the line, this one too with the hologram fonts. Looks interesting on my vanity table though.

Note that to finish the whole bottle within a year. Use product right after dispensed.

I gotta say, the glittery grey hues is growing on me.

The back of the bottle. Just some basic info on the product. Yep, it's Made in Korea.

I think the bottle is rather unique with the triangle cylinder. (Is that the word?? Do tell if you know what it is hehe) Expired in 2016.

This pump is awesome! Been using for over 3 months now. No problem! Dispense the right amount each and every time. :D

Verdict:

As for the consistency, it's a bit runny. As this emulsion is water-based so it absorbs into my skin quickly which is really nice. It's not sticky or anything. Smells just like other products from the same line, (though this is due to fragrance).

Overall, I do love it. I tried few other emulsion before like Skinfood Gold Kiwi Emulsion, but it's a bit moisture for me, hence broke out after using few times (happened while I was hunting for the right emulsion at the end of September) and then I tried some samples from Etude House but also broke out terribly. So this emulsion, though this doesn't come in samples, I just tried at the store, on my face, and loved the consistency so I decided to get this for myself and mum.

I've been using this for over 3 months and based from my observation (by looking at the shadow of the product under a light source, (ugh! this is the part where I don't like about the packaging, you can't tell from the outside how much product you have left. The bottle is nice on the outside but it is so opaque!) I think I'm only used up about 2/3 of the bottle. So I guess I'm good for another a month or two.

As this too, does helped in brightening up my skin, I guess I can say, it's working. As I've been using the whole line (except for the eye cream), from toner, essence, this emulsion and the moisturizing cream, I can tell it's working. Plus it's really hydrating my skin. Most brightening and whitening products are drying up skin, but according to the BA in TheFaceShop KL Festival City, this skincare line has anti-wrinkle property so it'll hydrate your skin. With the Shea Butter I think. it's listed in the ingredient list.

Final Verdict: I give this 4/5. Well, I still have lots of time to decide whether to repurchase or not. Chances are, if I were to get different skincare line, then I guess no. I went to TheFaceShop store recently and they said what's coming in 2014 is the new (in Malaysia) Mango Seed (moisture function) and Calming (trouble care) line. Currently, they're offering Buy 2 Free 1 promotion so let's see.

Plus I'm eyeing a skincare line from Nature Republic right now which is The First skincare line. Someone recommended it as it's working well with his skin (also oily-combo) but mostly the items from the same line are over RM100 which is expensive! So, I'm highly considering to ask my cousin to buy for me from Korea or maybe just online shopping.

After discovering Nature Republic The First line, I also came across Missha Time Revolution skincare line but there's no Missha store in Malaysia. Checked out some info on it and found out they have several stores in Singapore. Found out about the particular product that I want to try, which is Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence and it costs SGD89.90 (about RM240) now that's expensive! But I hear so many beauty bloggers were raving about how it's a dupe for SK-II Treatment Essence. I read that Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence performed even better than SK-II's. How a USD52 product beats USD155 product? I'm so curious!

Anyway, this emulsion is retailed at RM89.90 and I got this during TheFaceShop 10th Anniversary Sale on 4th October last year so I get 15% discount plus as I spent above RM300, I got lots of freebies. hehe

So I guess that's a wrap for this post. Stay tuned for the last part as I'm going to review the moisturizer cream after this. Gonna do my laundry now! LOL

Au revoir!

Beauty Empties 2.0 | December

Saturday, 4 January 2014
Hello, lovelies! It's Saturday so what are your plans for today? For me who is still having exams next week, weekends are meant for studying. :) Hence today's post is gonna be a quick one I promise.

Like the above title, this is my last month's empties. I basically didn't finish that much but these things are the most important items in my daily beauty routine for the past 3 months. As this is an Empties Post, I will also comment on whether the first impression on these items last long or not.

First, the Rice Water Bright Cleansing line from TheFaceShop. As for the Cleansing Foam, yes the impression lasts till the last portion of the product. I really love it. Definitely repurchase probably in June or July. Next is the Cleansing Cream, this one too, is definitely gonna repurchase it. I just washed the tub and place my brooches in it as my current brooch box isn't enough. hehe Lastly the Rice Bran Cleansing Foam, ah~ this one is my favourite among all three of these. Yes, definitely repurchase!

Review | THE FACE SHOP Flebote White Crystal Effect Essence

Thursday, 2 January 2014
Hello, beautiful people! it's the end of the week already and how's your 2014 so far? For me, I'm still in 2013 as I wrote the date on my exam paper wrongly yesterday. haha

Anyway, as I mentioned in the previous post, today I'm going to review the next item from the Flebote White Crystal line which is the most expensive among others, the Effect Essence.

Product Description: Taken from the box.

86% improvement in skin pigmentation and 81% improvement in skin brightness.

A brightening essence with nano liposome of Korean White Pine and Mulberry Tree Extracts absorbs into skin quickly and inhibit formation of melanin. Additions of Opuntia Tuna Fruit Extract and Saffron extracts promote skin metabolism for brighter, even toned complexion.
What is Korean White Pine?
It's an evergreen tree native to korea that has prized since ancient times for its unchanging green colour. Rich in resveratrol, an excellent anti-oxidant and skin brightener, this unique ingredient specially developed by THE FACE SHOP laboratory, provides skin with last long lasting brightness and glow.

Water, Glycerin, Alcohol Denat., Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Xylitol, Arbutin, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Dipropylene Glycol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Polymer, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Cyclohexasiloxane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Propylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Phosphatidylcholine, PEG-10 Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Polyglutamic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate,  Pinus Strobus Bark Extract, Ceramide 3, Opuntia Tuna Fruit Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Crocus Sativus Flower Extract, Disodium EDTA, Methylpropanediol, Methylparaben and Fragrance.

Vol.: 40ml/1.35 fl. oz.

DERMATOLOGY TESTED.

How to use:
After cleansing and toning, pump once to dispense the product and apply for the whole area.

Packaging:

Actually, as you definitely can't see it clearly from above photo, there's hologram-like fonts used on the box. Quite tricky to take photo for this one!

As shown here, use to product within 12 months after opening. Use the product right after dispense.

As for the bottle, like the Brightening Skin Toner's, it's in the same grey and white hues with silver labeling. The bottle for this one is actually like 3/4 of the height of the toner's bottle . Well, it houses a merely 40ml product. Of course it should be smaller, right?

The back of the bottle.

Different pump compared to toner's pump. After this product is finished, I screw it opened, and found there's no straw-like thing inside. Just the pump. I think it's quite interesting. :) I forgot to take photo for that. I will update later. hehe

Verdict:

As for the packaging, again I'm neutral about it. It's minimalistic which I love but I still think it's not much of an impact. But it does look elegant. Like I mentioned in previous post, 'mature, elegant 30 years old woman'. Especially with the silver touch on the bottle.

Score: 3.5/5

The consistency is like gel. it doesn't run, small amount of product like this can cover the whole facial area.

To me, this is my very first essence product and from what I know, some Korean cosmetics brands having different essence and serum while some define essence and serum in similar manner, but for this one THE FACE  SHOP named this product as Effect Essence. So, essence it is.

I love the texture and the scent (though it's fragrance) and it doesn't break me out, doesn't make my face oilier, as this product is the most highlighted item from the line ( I think) so I guess this product really works in brightening up my face, and evens out my skin tone. Pigmentation due to sunburn are now less than before, and this product even lessen the pigmentation around my acne scars.

This product doesn't make my skin dry or anything cause this is whitening/brightening product after all. but one thing about this product that I was hoping for it to help but NOT is my pores. Not until I use my Etude House Wonder Pore line, this product just ignoring my pores. Sigh

Final verdict: 4/5. If you ask me, yes this products works with my skin. My complexion is so much better than before. I would recommend if you guys have the same skin like me. Do get samples from the THE FACE  SHOP counters and try before you decide. So lucky as I tried my mom's before buying this one. hehe But will I repurchase? I want to but as I went to THE FACE  SHOP stores yesterday, this item has sold out in all 3 stores that I went. Sigh. But I'm asking my cousin to get some stuffs before coming back to Malaysia 2 weeks from now so I'm looking forward to get the new stuffs. :D

Again, I will post my skin photos after I'm done reviewing the whole line of products which are perfect for women who want to get into let's say, mature modelling?

Now, this product is retailed at RM125.90 and I got this during THE FACE  SHOP 10th Anniversary Sale on Mid September last year so I get 15% discount plus as I spend above RM300, I got lots of freebies. I love the Strawberry Hand & Body Chiffon Cream that my favourite BA in KL Festival Mall recommended to me! Will review that soon!

So that's it for today's review! I'll be reviewing the Emulsion next so until next post, annyeong!
