Beauty Haul | March

Monday, 31 March 2014
It's been a year since I changed my magazine subscription from Cleo Malaysia to Female Malaysia. I guess taste and preference does change when you're turning mid twenties. The same as last year, during the start of the Spring season, beauty magazines in Malaysia (well, the ones that I read) mostly featuring brightening or whitening products. As for Female Malaysia, they featured lots of whitening products both from Western and Eastern brands like Lancome, Shiseido, Sulwhasoo, and of course Laneige.

To justify why I decided to choose this brand is because this line of skincare is free from harsh or potentially danger chemicals. Not only that, I want to actually spend money on products that the price gap between here in and the origin country isn't more than 35%. Well, it's kind of disappointing to spend my Ringgit on products that only worth half of the paid prices. Even lesser sometimes.

Now, let's got right into it and first, let me talk about the product that I got from Laneige Malaysia.

I went ahead and got myself almost all the products from the White Plus Renew line and that includes Bubble Cleanser, Skin RefinerEmulsionOriginal Essence, Original Cream and Capsule Sleeping Pack.

I bet you guys already heard about the new upgraded version of the White Plus Renew line from Laneige as they integrated MelaCrusher™ technology into these upgraded products.

As I'm going to travel next week, I also grabbed the Trial Set also known as Brightening Starter Kit. The Set includes all the main products from the White Plus Renew line and a bonus as the Tone Up Corrector is included. I haven't made up my mind whether to get the full size or not as I have yet to try it.

Clear-C Effector is a booster product, filled with Vitamin C that hopefully can help me see a faster result of the new skincare line. If I'm not mistaken, this product main ingredient is acerola which is known for its brightening property.

As for make-up, I finally got myself the BB Cushion (Whitening) SPF50% PA+++. I got mine on the first day after the product being sold here in Malaysia. It was rather a coincident as I was doing some shopping and saw this offered at the counter. Mine is in No. 31 Brown Beige. I wanted to go for the No. 33 Coffee i.e. the darkest shade but it's not available in Malaysia.

For samples, I got 2 Trial Kits; White Plus Renew Trial Kit (5 items - upgraded version as this one has 5 items in it including one piece of Capsule Sleeping Pack while the old version has only 4 items with eye cream), Basic & Water Bank Refreshing Kit (for oily to combination skin) and, cleansing oil, foam cleanser and bunch of sample sachets.

Beauty Empties 3.0 | March

Sunday, 30 March 2014
Lovelies, annyeong! How was your weekend? I'm really tired since yesterday as I've been non-stop going to many places since last Friday. Running errands, shopping, visiting relatives and whatnot. Anyway, today is going to be a quick post as I still need to prepare for my presentation on Monday. T__T

Here are the items that I finished from the past few months. Like the previous empties posts, I'm going to tell whether the first impressions of these items last and whether I'm going to repurchase them or not.

For cleansing items, I finished Etude House Happy Fresh Foam in White Clay and Skinfood Black Sugar Scrub Foam. Both these cleansers are great as the former one smells like baby powder which I love and works great with my skin and as for the cleanser from Skinfood, it works great as a scrub with the grains in the foam. But as I love trying new cleansers (plus I still have another tube of the Etude House cleanser), I don't think I will be repurchasing these two again.

Review: TheFaceShop Herb Day Cleansing Cream in Green Tea

Sunday, 23 March 2014
Annyeong! How are you guys these days? It's been really hot here in Malaysia. ah~ I'm saying as if I'm from somewhere else, but indeed where I came from is less hot compared to this city of Kuala Lumpur.

Anyway, in request of a friend, today I'm going to do a quick review on this cleansing cream that I got from TheFaceShop about 5 months ago, which is the Herb Day Cleansing Cream in Green Tea variant.

The design of the illustration is pretty simple, right?

Review: Skinfood Black Sugar Strawberry Wash-Off Mask

Saturday, 22 March 2014
Annyeong! How was your week so far? It's been really exhausting these days as it's examination week before we're gonna enjoy mid semester break next week. :)

Anyway, if you remember my December Haul, you guys probably knew that I got this interesting Black Sugar Strawberry Wash-Off Mask from the Christmas Set that includes the Black Sugar Perfect First Serum that I reviewed previously.

Packaging:

Like the Skinfood best seller product, Black Sugar Wash-Off Mask, or most of the wash-off masks from Skinfood, this one too comes in white-capped, almost transparent tub.

Review: Etude House Moonlight in Spoon: Blending Sleeping Cream in Rosehip

Friday, 21 March 2014
Annyeong! Ah~ These days I can feel that my skin is slightly under the weather. huh? Is that the word? Well, with the stress and whatnot.. Sigh~

With that, I decided to go through my stashes of products in my drawer and looked for this! hehe~

Moonlight in Spoon Blending Sleeping Cream in Rose Hip from Etude House.
Whoa~ that was mouthful.. I think this is one product that has the longest name!

Anyway, this one is for 'Bright and Moist'. Definitely something that I need as I kinda feel my skin is a bit dry these days. :)

As you guys can see the above photo, there's illustration of the rose hip.
Wanna see a real one?

If you're a big fan of Victoria Secret Angel's Miranda Kerr, I bet you heard she mentioned about how she used Rose Hip oil to achieve that glowing complexion. It's actually been in practice since ancient time (I read somewhere it was during the time of Egyptian, even Mayans) that they've been using Rose Hip oil for healing purposes.

Product Description:
This is a Blending Sleeping Cream containing Rose hip extract (Rosa Canina Flower Oil), Lavender, Chamomile, and Mint.
'Blend together Sleeping Cream' is a (mix of) golden herb water-gel and rich nourishing cream (that contain ingredients that can) moisturise skin overnight for a lucid, bright moonlight-like complexion.

There's the manufacturing date. Be sure to check before buying.

There's also illustration on how to use the product. Ah, totally cute! :)

Basically, what you need to do in order to use the product is to take out the spoon inside and as shown below, be careful while tearing the plastic cover because you might spill the product inside.

Break the handle part and use it to blend in the transparent gel. To my understanding, the gel is the one that's provide moisture while the coloured gel is the one that contained the extracts.

Blend well, as you can see here the rose-coloured gel has became less pinkish, which also means you can start applying it on your skin.

Do remember not to apply using the spoon, as it's quite sharp.

Texture and Scent:
The texture, as expected is creamy and I have to say that I was expecting it to be absorbed quickly but it just didn't. So the the consistency is quite heavy or thick as I need to wait for about 20 minutes to half an hour before it absorbed into my skin. As it's said that this is a sleeping cream, I guess it's natural for it to be slightly thicker than my usual sleeping mask that I'm using.

The scent is lovely, I have to be honest. Well, apart from loving anything that has sakura in it, I also love rose-scented items so this sleeping cream, as it's rose-kinda-scented, I love it. Indeed, as it contains chamomile, the scent is soothing me, helped me relaxed a bit.

The amount of product which is 6g is a lot for me but to my knowledge, I have to use the whole thing, or if you guys have fridge, I think it's better to use half portion of the product. Well, the usual amount of product for sleeping mask is 3 to 4g anyway. Even better, just share with your roommate! :)

This is a sleeping cream or mask I should say so just leave it on and continue with washing it off the next morning.

Final verdict: 4.5/5. I absolutely love this variant. if you need a quick fix, put this on for about 5 to 6 hours while sleeping before going on with daily activities is enough to rejuvenate your skin and give you the healthy glow that you want. Though the effect is temporary. But then again, who knows what this product could do if you integrate it into your skincare routine? :) So yeah, if I need extra treatment for my skin, this is one of the things that I'll go for.

Why not full score? Because it's quite pricey. RM9.90 per item is expensive if you ask me. Which is why I guess I'm going to opt for the ones in jar instead of this. But for travelling purposes, or for girls' slumber party, this is great.

Will I repurchase? Absolutely.

I guess that's about it. I hope this review can help you decide whether to get this or not. Or.. if you want need extra info on this product. :)

Tell me if you have tried it, are you gonna repurchase it? What's your favourite sleeping mask? Do share.

Until next post, au revoir!

Review: Skinfood Black Sugar Perfect First Serum

Monday, 17 March 2014
Annyeonghaseyo! :D How was your weekend? As I was busy throughout the weekend, I did a little shopping today. hehe what a way to encounter the unhappy feeling of Monday! LOL

Anyway, I've been getting messages to review my current serum from my December Haul last year and I did mentioned before that it's better to use the product for more than a month before reviewing it.

Finally! After almost 6 weeks of using this product (not including given samples and miniatures), I decided to review it so say hello to Black Sugar Perfect First Serum from Skinfood!

Review: Etude House Wonder Pore Freshener

Saturday, 15 March 2014
Annyeonghaseyo! and since I've been noticing some visitors from Japan, Irrashaimase! :D

This week have been very intense as I had critique session yesterday so this weekend is all about healing whatever has been broken (..um, I broke few things at studio LOL) and of course time to give myself some facial treatment.. hehe

Anyway, today I'm going to review about a toner that I've been using for the past few months which is this Wonder Pore Freshener from Etude House!

I bought this together with the Wonder Pore Cotton Glove. :)

First, let's talk about the famous Freshener. :) It claims 7 in 1 total pore solution.
      1. Maintain pH 4.5 (optimum)
      2. Refine skin tone.
      3. keep the elasticity of pores.
      4. Deep cleanses pores.
      5. Minimise appearance of pores
      6. Control large amount of sebum
      7. Moisturise inside and and outside of skin.

Product Description:
This product is a total solution for pore care, preventing enlarged pores, less firmer skin and skin troubles by eliminating what hurts skin from within.

How to use:
Soak the cotton pad with the freshener and wipe your face from the centre of your face to the outside.
With gentle patting, let the skin absorb the leftover Freshener.
You can carry the Freshener in a mist type container and apply onto your skin when there is too much sebum or you have itchy feeling.

Vol.: 500ml

Use within 12 months after opening and right after dispensed from the bottle.

Ingredients:

I like the fact that Etude House opted for Phenoxythanol (hopefully in low amount) as preservative. The product also contains rice bran extract and lemon fruit extract that I believe can help refining and refreshing skin tone, also there's Hyaluronic Acid that can help with keeping our skin's elasticity healthy.

Packaging:

As you can see in the above photos, the product comes in a blue box that have the same illustrations as its sister products. The plastic box is definitely sturdy that can protect the product throughout the time it's being shipped or just stored in the shop.

From the illustrations, I guess we can conclude that it's trying to portray your pore problems and how this product can help you.

Illustrated above is how you can use the product not only as toner but also freshener i.e Facial mist.

That's basically the huge bottle. I believe this product also comes in 250ml, but of course that size is lacking one thing.

That lacking thing is indeed this amazing pump. Usually can be seen in beauty salons, this time it's used to dispense the product out of its bottle. Just pushed down carefully with your cotton pad.

Note that the manufacturing date is printed on the bottom of the bottle.

Now, let's talk about the Wonder Pore Cotton Glove. It's a glove type double-sided pad that can be used in place of cotton pad, effectively cleanses and smoothing out pores when used with Wonder Pore Freshener.

On the left, the dotted side is the side that you can used to exfoliate the dead skin cells while on the right is the after you exfoliate, tap that side of the pad on your skin and let your skin to absorb the remained product.

You can put your fingers inside the cotton pads and swipe your skin carefully. Do note NOT to use the dotted side of the pad harshly on your skin. it might skin. Exfoliate carefully. :)

That's how the toner looks like. Looks ordinary isn't it?

Verdict:
What I can say about this product that it's very generous (with that amount of 500ml!!) and very effective! This toner really helps with my T-zone compared to my previous toners.
When it comes to my enlarged pores, I don't believe it can help with my enlarged pores but at least it can minimise the appearance of it. My skin appears to be smoother and refined to before.
What I can tell is how effective the product is based on its ingredients. So, like I said above, in a nutshell, this product totally liven up to its claim.
I guess the reason for this product to be so huge in its size because we can use it both as toners and facial mists. So, yeah it's really beneficial to both to my skin and budget.
The probable downside of this product is probably it's hard to travel with but it's fine for me as I have lots of containers I can use for travel and whatnot.

Three things on the side of my backpack! :D

Final verdict: 5/5. Though this product looks ordinary, I believe it's a very good product and of course, I will repurchase this. :D

In fact....

I bought 2 during a Buy 1 Free 1 sale (retailed at RM89.90) sale and another 1 included in Christmas Set (RM169.90) during my December Haul.

What do you think of this product? Have you ever tried this? Do tell your opinions and drop comments below.

That's all for today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, yeah?

Until next post, annyeong!

Review: TheFaceShop Phyto Powder in Cleansing Foam: Green Tea

Friday, 14 March 2014
Today, I'm going to review another cleanser that I'm using right now, I bet you guys can already guess that I'm juggling 4 cleansers right now as I have different cleanser for mornings and evenings.

This cleanser is actually a sister product of a product that I reviewed previously which is this Phyto Powder in Cleansing Foam in Green Tea.

Tried: Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Tissue

Thursday, 13 March 2014
Hello, everyone! First thing first, I'd like to #prayforMH370. I sincerely hope that the plane will be found soon and return all the passengers, pilots and flight attendants safely. We all Malaysian are praying hard that no harm came towards these innocent people.

Anyway, it's been a long today as I just returned from lecture halls after spending the whole day attending lectures. Today a friend of mine asked if I really have a trick to remove make-up quickly on busy days like today, so I figured let me test the cleansing tissue sample that I got the last time I went shopping in Etude House The Spring mall in Kuching, Sarawak.

Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Tissues (Oil Type)

Product Description:
Cleansing tissues formulated with baking powder and cleansing oil to exfoliate skin and cleanse pores to remove facial (make-up) residues for a thorough cleanse.

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Isopropyl Myristate, Glycerine, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Polysorbate 80, PEG 40, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxythenol, Methylparaben, carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Allantoin, Propylparaben, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil.

Vol.: 22g (5 sheets) - Samples.

Use within 12 months, once pulled out use right away.

Verdict:

Can you notice? On the right is after swiped using the cleansing tissue with 2 swipes. Totally clean.

One thing that I don't like about this product is the scent. It basically smells like Korean ginseng (especially like the I Need You Mask Sheet: Ginseng (Purifying).

But it's not really a big of a deal. It performs okay I guess. Really saved my time before I proceed with using my cleansing foam. :)

Final verdict: 4/5. I do like this product, but this one too contains parabens. So no, I guess I won't be purchasing this.

As some of you may know, I have tried its sister products, and fully reviewed them so do check them out from the review list.

So that's all for today. I hope this review enlightens your curiosity if you ever want to try this product. :)
Do share of you guys ever tried a good cleansing tissue because I'm looking for one right now. Thanks!

Au revoir!
